Shop the Looks: 14x14 Capsule

One of my favorite slow fashion accounts (@SlowFashionMoms) kicked off a 14x14 Capsule Wardrobe Challenge this past week and although I was in isolation with my 4 year old and NOT looking cute, I decide to still jump in. I am using the items I took with me for a fun week of boredom and snack slinging to create my 14x14 capsule + a few extra items to round it all out.

First up, what is a 14x14 Capsule Wardrobe Challenge? This is when you select 14 clothing items and wear just those items for 14 days. The goal is to be creative with your combinations and to make getting ready simple. (The goal of all capsule wardrobes.)

Now, you can opt to include things like shoes and coats in your collecting of 14 or those could be add on items that you don’t count. It’s up to you! I’m including coats, but not shoes or accessories. (Workout wear and pjs are also not included.)

LOVELY TIP: If it’s your first attempt at a capsule, start by sticking with neutrals as I did here. It’ll make it easier to mix and match your items without second guessing your selections.

Needless to say, the isolation looks were nothing to celebrate (other than the extreme comfort!), but above is my first non-isolation, still stuck at home all day outfit. Honestly, it feels great to put on a real outfit even if there’s no where to go.

Below you’ll find all 14 items I'm including in my 14x14 capsule. I’m really looking forward to taking my t-shirt + leggings or joggers lounge wear and transitioning them into cute, working mom on the go looks! I think it’s important for those of us wanting to make our wardrobes work better for our real lives to see that you 100% can use a limited number of items in a variety of ways.

I may have lived the last 6 days as a sloppy mess in my oversized tee and joggers, but that same oversized tee paired with some ripped jeans, a leather jacket, great jewelry and boots will take me straight from the sofa to date night.

Remember, friends. You don’t need a massive wardrobe. You just need items that can really work for you. Need help with that? I got you.

Today’s look is really a perfect WFH combination. The jeans are one of my favorite pairs and aren’t too tight to lounge in. The oversized tee is dressed up with the black blazer, but this blazer has a secret weapon: it feels like a freakin sweatshirt. Meaning no tight arms, easy to move in and crazy cozy. Heck yes! With the addition of some jewelry and great slip on shoes (again, so good for those at home days), I’m set with a stylish look worth of leaving the house, but comfort that says, “let’s stay in”.

SHOP THE LOOK:

Alright friends, that’s it this week. Next Sunday I’ll show off the full week of looks I created with my 14 items. Looks that will take these lazy day basics to cute mom on the go! I have two client meetings plus a couple other out of the house meetings so I’ll have a true reason to get ready. Having a pre-selected set of clothing should make my mornings easy and quick which is something I think we can all appreciate, no?
