Three Ethical Layering Pieces Worth Adding To Your Closet

Shifting towards a slower, more ethical closet has been an imperfect journey, but more intentional purchases has led me to some really lovely pieces that I’ll have in my closet for years to come.

Over the past week, I wore three layering pieces from ethical brands that I think deserve more detail that I typically provide in my Sunday Style Round Ups over on Instagram.

First up is this Black Friday Sale purchase from ABLE. I’ve been eyeing their Maha Leather Jacket for a while because a black leather jacket is such a classic closet staple that I knew could serve me well for many years. With their recent holiday sale, I decided to jump in and order.

This jacket has lots of 5 star reviews, and I was not disappointed! It’s soft, an amazing quality and most importantly, created by individuals making a living wage.

If looking to make an investment in a leather jacket, I cannot recommend this Maha Leather Jacket from ABLE more. I’m so pleased with the product and feel proud to support a company “challenging the culture of the fashion industry by creating transformative opportunities for women”.

This next jacket I’ve been raving about for awhile now, but when you get the look of a blazer with the comfort of your favorite sweatshirt, how do you not talk about it?! This piece is from a small business called Lev Apparel that is focused on empowering women from the way garments are made, how they fit a variety of bodies, and how the items make women feel.

This Madison Jacket comes in Black as well as a Tan (and yes, I have both) and is the perfect addition to any wardrobe. Throw it over a hoodie like shown below for an instant outfit upgrade.

The oversized pockets are a dream for us moms with too many things to carry and the stretch makes it easy to move and allows you to feel comfortable all day long. I’ve worn this jacket over dresses, with demin and a button, with leggings, shorts, and basically any other item in my closet. It’s that good, friends.

And I’m not sure you’ll find a better small business to support. You can shop Lev Apparel at 15% off with the code “keecreative”.

The final piece I want to share with you is brand new to me, but I am such a fan already. This is the perfect light top layer and I can see myself throwing it on post gym, while lounging at home, and while out and about. The first time I wore it, I layered it with a Pact bodysuit and denim as shown below.

The Jenni French Terry Duster from Elegantees is my third item from this ethical brand and it’s a great casual piece that would work really well with Lev Apparel’s blazer or a denim jacket layered on top. It caught my eye because the cut gives the look of a trench coat mixed with your favorite hoodie. If you’re a more causal dresser, I think this duster would be a great addition to your wardrobe. And bonus, you can feel confident that those that created your garment are living a better life thanks to your purchase.

You’re bound to see these three pieces featured a lot over the next few months and I have to say, I’m not mad about it.

Have you shopped with Lev Apparel, ABLE, or Elegantees yet?
