Shop the Look: Layered, Cozy Bedding

There’s something about the those perfectly styled, layered beds that just make you want to climb under the sheets and nap for days. However, achieving that look without spending a fortune or having 45 items to pull off the bed every night can pose a challenge.

Our bed was definitely overdue for an updated, but I had a few requirements before pulling the trigger on any purchases.

  1. The new bedding had to work with our existing Woven Nook pillows. I love them, they don’t read too seasonal, and they’re in great condition.

  2. I needed sheets that wouldn’t make me sweat more than I already do. (The struggle is real, y’all.) Jersey sheets are comfy, but do not work for this lady.

  3. I did not want to break the bank.

Thankfully Target came through like a champ and I am now sleeping in a comfy bed with sheets made to help regulate your temperature and we only have a few pillows to shift to the floor each night. Even the hubby can handle that.

I knew a neutral comforter would work best for our space, but I still wanted to add a touch of color to the room. I used this beautiful soft teal knit blanket which not only brings in color, but it also is the perfect addition for the layered, cozy bed I was shooting for. I love how it compliments our Woven Nook pillows and adds great texture, but best of all, it covers our unsightly weighted blanket.

The sheets are my favorite part of this new bedding because TEMPERATURE CONTROL. I mean, if you have issues of getting overheated in the night, I highly recommend giving these a try. They are silky and I honestly feel like I’m slipping into a lovely hotel bed at the end of every night. We opted to match the sheet color to the comforter, but you could also select a contrasting color if that’s more your style.

The comforter is a a linen blend, is washable (which should be a bedding requirement, right?!), and is so cozy without feeling too heavy. We already have a weighted blanket so additional weight isn’t necessary, but I still wanted to achieve that thick, layered, inviting look. This comforter definitely ticks all the boxes and pairs perfectly with our existing accent pillows.

One other additional item I decided to pull in is this striped, oversized bed lumbar pillow. I wanted to add just a little bit of pattern to our bedding and this simple stripe does just that. When making the bed, I layer the lumbar between the stacked pillows (sleeping pillow + sham pillow) and the Woven Nook accent pillows. I love how it just peeks through a bit and creates another layer to the bedding.

All in all, I love how this came together. The comforter, sheets and knit blanket come in a variety of colors so I’m sure you can find a combination perfect for your space. If you’re interested in any of the items, you can shop the links below.

STYLING TIPS:

  • For a more layered, plush look to your bed try using a King comforter on your Queen bed. This will allow you to fold over more of the comforter creating that thick, full bedding look.

  • If using a duvet cover, insert two duvets instead of just one.

  • Add a knit blanket layered over the end of the bed for another layer, but be sure to select a large blanket for the best effect.

  • Stack your pillows instead of standing them upright for a more tailored look.

  • Mix textures for the most inviting appearance.
